* Use
a PIN number or your phone's security lock code to prevent unauthorised
usage.
* Do not leave your phone un-attended and keep it with you at all times.
* Do not flaunt your expensive handphone. Try using a hands-free kit
to keep your phone out of sight whilst using it.
* Be careful in crowded places, especially if a stranger is standing
suspiciously close to you. Think about moving somewhere else if you
don't feel safe talking on the phone with him nearby.
* Be wary of strangers pestering to borrow your handphone. Instead
direct them to a nearby public phone.
* If your phone rings, see who's around you before you answer.
* Note down your handphone's IMEI number (press *#06#). This can be
useful should your handphone be stolen.

traced through submitted IMEI numbers.

* Note the description of the thief (distinct physical description,
attire and any marks or scars on the face or arms).
* Note the area or direction the thief was last seen proceeding to
