The quality of the ACS education was such that it naturally presented
the world with a number of trail-blazing leaders from all walks of life
such as politics, business, sports and music/drama. With a long and varied
history, it is not easy to identify which well-known person went to which
ACS unit.

However, whichever unit the boys came
from, they carried with them an ever-inquiring mind and indomitable
spirit. The 1954 ACS Magazine noted in its Editorial Comments:
" The School has an enviable reputation for producing students whose interests
are diverse and varied and who aspire to distinguish themselves in both the academic
and athletic fields."
Indeed
Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam(Minister for Education), Dr Vivian
Balakrishnan, Minister of State for
National
Development & Trade and Industry are our Old Boys.
Other ACPS boys in politics and government ministries
include Dr Goh Keng Swee(former Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore),
Mr Goh Kim Leong (Deputy Chairman of the CPF Board), Mr Lim Han
Soon (General Manager of the CPF Board and also husband of ACJC
Principal, Mrs Lim), Dr Ng Eng Hen (Minister of state for Education
and Manpower), Mr Chiam See Tong (Opposition MP for Potong Pasir),
Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, Senior Minister of State (Law
and Home Affairs) and MP for Nee Soon East.
He was a student in ACPS from 1961 to 1966 and made his mark academically
by earning Top Boy honours in 1961-66. In a straits Times article (3
February 2002), he recalls his days at ACPS and later at ACS Secondary:
"ACS emphasised on all-around education and created confident individuals
with character. I was very active in drama, debates, community service, student
leadership and sports. I thrived in that environment."
